Fun in NC

My brother is in the US for a couple of weeks this summer.  He normally lives in Beirut Lebanon but every two years (or for weddings and funerals) he does a tour of the States to visit family.

I told him to just let me know where and when and I would get myself there.

Blowing Rock, NC.

It's kind of strange to go back to places I spent time in when I was younger.  So much is the same and yet so much is different and strange.

Living in the South is different than living on the West coast.  Not in huge ways (other than the obvious accents), but in little ways you don't even notice until you're in the thick of it.

Southerners are really friendly.  They'll start conversations with you while you wait in line at the grocery store.  You can ask them if an outfit looks good on you and they'll tell you without thinking twice.

The humidity is ATROCIOUS. If the air was any thicker people would be drowning in front of you. But at the same time, it's kind of comforting (to me anyway).

I know what kind of creepy crawlies to expect when I'm outside.  Where they live (in order to avoid them) what kind to expect.

Tall grass = snakes.

Sours a.k.a Wood Sorrel.  I love it.  It's delicious and doesn't seem to grow in the PNW, which makes me sad.

I love eating weeds.

I've been having SUCH a great time!  Fun with my brother, fun with my sisters, and fun with my parents and I get to see my friends!

Sarah is driving all the way from Morganton to Boone, so we can spend the morning together.  I'm excited.  We haven't seen each other in forever!
