When I told Megan I was doing a Couch to 5K Program her first response was "that doesn't seem fair to the rest of the runners"
Oh, I meant I was running the program...I mean I was in charge of the program!
After Tucson I really wanted to get back to basics with running and thought starting a Couch to 5K program with Club Oly Running was a good way to do that.
After getting approval and getting the brochure and poster made up it left us with a week and half of advertising time...
The day it was scheduled to start I was just praying that SOMEONE would show up. I mean my family doesn't have a great track record for people attending events we put together. It might have something to do with the fact that we have a fairly limited friend pool to start with.
When the first couple of people came up I was so relieved that I hadn't put all that energy and fuss into a program that bombed. Then more people showed up...and more...I think there was close to 30 people who showed up on Tuesday We now have paper work and payment for 26 new Club Oly Running members! We had about 20+ people show up again tonight, which makes me happy.
I know there will be a decline in attendance as the program goes on, but I would much rather have a decline out of 26 people then say 7-10, which is what we were expecting based on pre-registration.
We're still working out some kinks on how to manage such a large group but I think we'll hit our stride quickly. We have whistles after all:)
