Keep it together!

I have to say, I'm a little disappointed in how I've felt during this training cycle.

I felt SO amazing during my training for Boston, and then I didn't get to really to use it during the race and now that I'm training for another marathon that I want to do well at I'm having all sorts of issues.

Blerg.

My knee hurts. The inside of my right knee to be exact. I went on my first long run of 13 miles and it felt "tired hurt" if that makes sense (I know it does to other runners out there) by mile 6. Not enough to actually make me stop running, but enough that I took stock of how much it hurt and decided I could keep going.

The three miles AFTER that...If I hadn't been leading a group I would have happily stopped running.

It hurt enough that after two days, I still felt twinges in my knee walking down stairs.

I managed to be smart enough to skip my speed workout.

Barely, but I did it. It didn't hurt that I replaced it with a massage.

I've been plagued with tired legs, and calf cramps for the last 2.5 weeks and frankly it's ticking me off.

I want to feel fast and fresh again!

Thank goodness for Chrissy's compression boots. I shudder to think what my legs would feel like if she wasn't letting me mooch off her. Jason even gave me a leg massage. It hurt.

I DID feel amazing during last weeks Tempo run. I was a little wound up, due to being late to the run and was pretty worried about how heavy my legs felt. I didn't know how I was going to make my goal pace of 7:38.  I didn't find out until afterwards that I was running up hill faster than I thought, but I still blasted my goal out of the water!

My knee is still getting sore and tired after about 8 miles though...gotta do something about that.

You're right about distinguishing pain that is "sore" or "tired" from pain that is telling you that something is wrong. Body parts that are overextended usually heal up after a short while, but it seems this isn'tthe case. You said that it still persisted after a couple of days, so perhaps going to a doctor can tell you what's the matter. Let's hope it's nothing serious, so you won't have to endure any down time. Take care!
