Running in the Rain!

It has rained the 30 out of the last 35 days.

I’m not even joking.

This is how I feel almost daily.

Last week as I left work, a lady asked me why the parking garage smelled like mold.

I just told her “Because this is WA”.

My brother lived in Tacoma in the late 90’s and has no sympathy for me. Instead every time I complain, he tells me he “told you so” and then I have to tell him “Yeah, but I can run year round here”.

It’s circular but it’s ours.

Yesterday was particularly rainy. I got several messages from runners that they weren’t going to be able to make it. One referred to it as “too much weather”.

More accurate words were never spoken.

I wasn’t sure if anyone was going to show up. I didn’t blame them. If I wasn’t in charge I probably wouldn’t have gone either.

Who am I kidding? I would have, if only due to the guilt of leaving a running buddy alone in the rain.

Luckily I have running buddies that are just like that too! J

We were all laughing by the time we got back. It had rained the entire time…right up to the end, and then it stopped.

I nearly got hit by a car within the first mile and Karen had a close call about half way through the run. I swear it’s more dangerous to be in a cross walk in this town than it would if we ran down the middle of the road. For a second I thought I might need to be Karen’s back up when the car nearly hit her.

It was kind of a cross training run. During portions it felt like we were swimming! Karen and I just busted up laughing as we slogged through 6 inches of water. Then we squealed like little girls as we scattered to avoid the gigantic sprays of water from the next 6 cars going by!
The awesome thing about running in the pouring rain is that at a certain point you can’t get any wetter.
