My parents met me in Boston on the 13th so that we could see enjoy the city and see the sights...and go to the expo!
Normally I'm luke warm on race expos. I THINK they'll be like Christmas morning with awesome deals, free samples and give-aways but they really aren't generally that exciting.
That isn't true for the Boston Marathon Expo.
IT IS HUGE!
We went every day.
We got downtown at about 11am on Friday and ate lunch at a Mediterranean restaurant that was so good we went back the next day. I wish they had something like that in Olympia.
This was also my parents 43rd anniversary weekend! Aren't they just adorable? :) |
The place was kind of a "chipotle" style, but with mediterranean flavors. Delicious! |
After we fueled up we went to the expo so I could pick up my bib and packet. (Photo op!)
From there we implemented the grid system so that we wouldn't miss ANYTHING. (We didn't)
Mom made me a sign for race day:) |
I met Deena Kastor and Ryan Hall (I met Ryan once before in 2011). The first time I went through to get a photo all the photos taken were blurry, so I double downed and went through the line again.:) |
Yes, I know you're not "supposed" to eat new things right before a race, but Dad and I hit EVERY sample station...some of them multiple times. I love samples, and I clearly I get that from my dad. :)
Then we were able to listen to the last half of a beautiful vocal performance at the Trinity Church where we also attended Easter Mass and a Blessing of the Runners (my first!).
