Tempo...and other things

Yesterday I met up with some friends to run some speed work...As I was getting ready I realized that I hadn't drank nearly enough water during the day. I briefly wondered how that would affect my run, but figured I'd just bring my large water bottle and it would all work out.

yeah....not so much.

We did a mile warm up and then decided to run a 3 mile Tempo at a 7:30 pace.
My friend Amy was feeling VERY chipper and was skipping around singing (I'm not making this up) while I was huffing.

I wasn't even half way through the Tempo and I felt sick with lead legs. I admit I wussed out and walked.
It's always hard for me to tell the difference between a needed wussing out and one that just means you wussed out on a run I COULD have done if I had just kept running.

I should really just drink more water during the day and then I wouldn't give myself an easy excuse. The thing is I felt great when we started the run. blegh.

Afterward I attended a Clinic that Club Oly Running arranged going over the importance of "Rest and Recovery". At first I thought I'd just skip it since I wasn't really planning on changing what I was doing but I didn't leave after the Tempo soon enough and ended up staying. It was very informative:) But yeah, I probably won't change what I'm doing.

You can read the cliff notes version over at Run Mom Run because not only am I a wuss but also lazy.

I'm sorry it was such a rough run for you! Some days are just like that! But you'll be super ready to go on Wednesday right? Make sure to drink lots of water between now and then! I hope the St. Martin's run tonight was/is fun!

Oddly enough, 3 miles at 7:30 is my default run. I make myself go slower for 10Ks, but I don't like it.
