I have to admit after last Saturday's long run I was feeling a bit dubious about my new Marathon training cycle.
It was so early...and rainy...and windy...and COLD!
Monday's workout went well though so I decided my struggles were a fluke, 'cause I'm like that:)
Wednesday Amy ditched me so she could run in the sunshine...sheesh!
(If I had the chance I would have ditched her like a hot potato!)
But not to worry Drew was there to run with me!
My workout was 1 mile easy, 5 miles at Tempo followed by 1 mile cool down.
This meant running up Deschutes at Tempo pace, which is....Icky.
Luckily Karen struck up a conversation with me and we had a nice talk all the way to South Sound Running. Unfortunately this meant I needed to add an additional mile to my workout to make up for the extra "easy mile".
I also figured that I was supposed to run the 5 miles at my Mid Tempo pace...just 'cause. I didn't look it up or anything.
My Mid-Tempo pace is 7:34.
I averaged 7:22.
Then Amy kept talking about her Tempo goal pace as being 7:26...which for the first couple of times I chalked up to being a typo. But after the 3rd or 4th time I thought I would go check what my target pace actually was...yeah...8:12
Tiny difference.
But I totally rocked it!
That last quarter mile I was making a few weird noises in my effort to maintain my pace and not cut it short. After all I had to pass the parking lot, which is always hard.
and then Jason bought me spring rolls:)

You guys and your spring rolls!!! I would definitely say you killed your goal pace :)
You did kill it! I ended up making my mid tempo pace too, hilarious. I think we were both a bit paranoid about making our paces! You did a fantastic job! At least next week when we do the same workout except for at long tempo pace we can trade workouts if we don't quite make it.
